Editorial standards

These are the rules every article on The Pop Culture Desk follows.

Sourcing

Facts about how a platform works come from that platform's own documentation or announcements, linked inline and listed under Sources at the end of the article. Figures about accounts and videos come from the platforms' public statistics and are dated in the text. Where a figure changes after publication, the dated figure stands as a record of the moment; we do not silently update it.

Quotations

Quotations are verbatim from the cited page. We do not paraphrase inside quotation marks and we do not invent quotes, including from the people we write about.

Authorship

Articles are written by the desk's staff and carry a staff byline. We do not publish guest posts, press releases or contributed content.

Independence from advertisers

There are none. The site carries no advertising, no sponsored content, no paid placements and no affiliate links.

Images

Images of a creator's work are credited to the account and platform in the caption. We do not alter images beyond cropping and resizing.

Corrections

When an error is found, the article is corrected and a dated note is appended at the point of the change. Corrections are listed on the corrections page. To report one, write to contact@thepopculturedesk.com.

Updates

If an article is substantively updated after publication, the update is noted in the article with the date, and the page's modified date is changed accordingly.
